Our History

Our lineage dates to 1955, when the Feinberg family established the Jefferson State Bank in Chicago, Illinois. During the 1970’s, the family was a pioneer developer of the Chicago West Loop, and the Feinberg Family Office was established to pursue financial excellence and bring institutional capabilities from the banking world to select ultra-high-net-worth families.

Decades later, the family office evolved into the Feinberg Group and later the Feinberg Stein Group on Wall Street. After many years with a big firm on the Street, it was clear that Wall Street’s interests were no longer aligned for the benefit of our clients. To continue the lineage of bringing transparent, institutional-level expertise to our clients, we transitioned to an independent platform in partnership with Hightower in 2016.

At the same time as the Feinberg Family expanded their financial businesses, they were highly engaged in philanthropic endeavors in Chicago. Established in 1969 by the four Feinberg brothers, the J&B Feinberg Foundation was created to honor the memory of the family’s contributions to religious, charitable, and educational activities. Some of the most notable achievements of the J&B Feinberg Foundation are the establishment of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, the NU Feinberg Cardiovascular & Renal Research Institute, housing and food distribution centers on the South Side of Chicago, and the recent food truck project for the less fortunate in Los Angeles in partnership with the LA Kings Care Foundation.
